RECURSOS A LA XARXA - PORTALS EDUCATIUS

This is a webpage for students of Catalonia, so that this webpage had been constructed by the colaboration of Generalitat of Catalonia.
The webpage we have choosen is: TASTA’M. And the link is this: http://www.xtec.cat/escola/tastam/
It is a good resource for exercising the knowledge acquired during regular class hours, for all the elementary school students.

This is a site with plenty of activities, which integrates a lot of subjects of school curriculum. For example maths, English, Catalan, French, Italian, food, emocions, among others. All this is using the TIC as a tool of learning. Therefore, it is as attractive to students as for primary teachers.
Among the many topics of the page, we can find, in the introduction page, a link to the every topic.

To sum up, we think this educational webpage can be very helpful for 2nd grade children as there is a lot of tools for a better education. Another important thing (and good) is that the pupils can correct themselves every time they do the activities.



WEBQUEST: KNOW YOUR VILLAGE

The WebQuest is a very useful tool for the pupils' education of primary. The activity is described in Spanish but we can do this activity in English. Of this way we can work in the characteristics of the village and the English language.
The WebQuest that I have chosen is called "KNOW YOUR VILLAGE”. There claims the construction of a page with Word (transformable to web page) that presents to the others your village, your city or the village that you have chosen. For it you will have to investigate information, look for photographies, elaborate some graph and find or look for histories and traditional games of this zone. You can do a page being still this model.

It would be interesting that the work you will realize in pairs or in small groups. In such a way that you all take part in the search of the information, and you all realize the page practically in its entirety, realizing all the activities and taking the decisions in team.

You will carry out the majority of activities in Internet, and of there you have to extract the necessary information to realize the work. Also you will be of interest the consultation of some Encyclopedia and of some books related to the village, object of your work. In the paragraph of Resources you have everything necessary not to get lost in the network.

You must know the processor of Texts Word and especially the work with tables and with hypertexts. Also you must know the work with images: to capture them of Internet and to introduce them in the Processor of Texts. Students can ask for help their teachers and that throw a glimpse to this page of the DGA.

We think that this webques can be appropiate to 2nd grade as it teaches english vocabulary and it can be a very helpful work to move around the world. At the same time pupils are learning about their sorroundings, that is very important in their days.
To sum up, we think that this webquest has a basic English so it is perfecto to work wit the grade we dedicated this blog to.

RECURSOS A LA XARXA - SHAKESPEARE

Google is the most famous search engine in the world. This provides a quick and easy way to find information on the web, with access to an index of over 8168 billion web pages. According to the company, now Google responds to more than 200 million requests per day.

The topic of our activity is: Shakespeare!!
Students have to search through GOOGLE 10 important aspects of the bibliography of this important writer, such as: name, date of birth, works, place of birth .. and find pictures of this well man.
This activity is designed to secong grade, because this is a simple way to work a little English literature in a dynamic way. Moreover, when the pupils have to answer question, they learn to focus on important things and at the same time children use internet correctly

EDU365 SUMMER

We've choosen SUMMER as a topic, that we have find in edu365.

We think that topic can be an interesting aspect to work when the summer is near. So, the topic is contextualised and they can practice with themselves. In addition, the topic is funnier if they can use this webside, where the students find the new vocabulary with colours, animation, voice.. In our opinion, it can be usefull for the children in the second grade, because they are prepared to work vocabulary and grammar that the pupils need to use new words acquired.

This WebQuest is used to memorize vocabulary of clothing and accessories. After that, children can speak about what they are wearing and what the other people is wearing. Moreover, we can use this topic to remmember things like colours, since we can relate colors, clothing , vb TO BE and -ing, and the correct pronunciation.So their vocabulary is richer after that and their grammar also.

In generally we can say that this webside makes pupils learn to work with technology resources and to learn something so important as is the summer aspects.

PORTALS EDUCATIUS

Obviously technology has changed the education world. In our days children are used to work with computers and with internet, they work searching information and they learn a lot by themselves. This is one of the many advantatges of the education sites.

Children can improve they skills by searching different educational sites, which are very common for them. We can also say that educational sites have becomed a very useful resource for teachers as they can create one and then make the pupils work on it from home.

There are a lot of educational sites that one can visit. We've been looking to many of them and we've chosen "interpeques" site an interesting website that offers a lot of links to work all kind of subjects. The most interesant link for us is the "yellowpencil" a link focused in the english language that contains activities, games and songs in english. It can be very helpful for 2nd grade children as there is a lot of basic vocabulary, expressions and grammar rules that can be offered in our blog.

Another thing to consider is the advantatge of the self avaluation, a mean, the fact that pupils can correct themselves every time they fail in an exercice. This make them more independent.

WEBQUEST: THE FOOD


A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

The very nature of a WebQuest can put students in touch with digital libraries, primary source documents, multimedia presentations, research documents and all other types of objects available in the World Wide Web. Some people refer to the Web as a virtual encyclopaedia however, there are significant differences. An encyclopedia is carefully researched, bias-free, organised, cross-referenced written by professionals and relatively static. On the other hand, information and objects found on the Web can be published by anyone, biased, opinionated, chaotic, volatile and completely unsupported by any research. While encyclopedias can be relied on, the information on the Web cannot. And yet, the new generation of students tends to turn to the Web first and an encyclopaedia… sometimes never!

WebQuests centre around a question that really needs answering, encourages students to use contemporary tools and sources of information and to interact and rely on others to achieve the task.

Another webquest that we've choosen is this relating to FOOD. We think that it can be appropiate to 2nd grade as it teaches english vocabulary and it can be a very helpful vocabulary to move around the world. At the same time pupils are learning about healthy food, something very important in our days.

The webquest makes pupils think about the food that they like and the food they don't like, about food for animals, plants and grains and the importance of eating well. This webquest pretents that pupils answer and learn the questions correctly, that they can answer oraly what they have written, if they can be able to summarise the collected information, that they make a clear presentation and that they learn to work together with the members of the group and other classmates. In generally we can say that this webquest makes pupils learn to work with technology resources and to learn something so important as is the food.

We think that it has a basic english level so it's a perfect webquest to work with the grade we dedicated this blog to.

The webpage for students of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León is a good resource for exercising the knowledge acquired during regular class hours, for all the elementary school students.

This is a site with plenty of links and resources, which integrates all the subjects of school curriculum, except, of course, the Catalan language and literature, and which has a intelligent design. Therefore, it is as attractive to students as for primary teachers.

Among the many subjects of the page, we can find a link to the section of foreign language, which is the key subject of this blog. In this link, there are also various subjects such as Geography, with an activity called Castile and Leon, Spain and Europe, in which you can choose to review these territories and their different areas, in an interactive way, and in English.

There is also an activity related film knowledge. Its name is The hangman - Movies, and it is a game in which children have to guess the name of the movie, by cilcking on some letters, in order to save a character from eating a nasty dish.

To review the natural sciences, more specifically, the human body, there is an activity called The human body, in which students can do activities related to the skeleton, the male and female reproductive system, and the digestive, urinary and respiratory system.

Finally, there is an activity which reviews the parts of the body, with the help of a friendly alien, and in which one must match the names with the areas marked on the drawings.

All these activities must be made in English, and this represents a general overview of the terms in other subjects in this foreign language, which allows acquiring a more complex vocabulary.

We believe that this educational site is appropriate for the medium cycle of primary, because it involves a knowledge which is available to children of this level. In addition, the page includes drawings and graphics, which are very attractive to children, and also some simple activities that can be made either individually, as in a group.

For all the reasons above, we believe that the school use of this website can be very beneficial, not only to work English, but also to review the rest of the curriculum subjects, except Catalan.

WEBQUEST: ANIMALS

The WebQuest resources have a great educational value, and that is why their use is very interesting and constructive for teaching various subjects at primary level.

The English may be one of these benefited subjects, because of the combination of language learning, and new technologies.

The WebQuest that we have chosen is called "ANIMALS: PETS - FARM – WILD”. It is a platform with activities related to the names of animals, and with simple questions and resources on the net to find the answers.

On the cover page you can see an interactive list of all the steps of the task, and simple explanations about the objectives and process of the activity in Catalan. Due to this fact, we consider it appropriate for the 2nd grade of primary school, because the activities are very simple, and require a very basic domain of the software. The level of English required to perform tasks, is low, because the information research in the proposed web pages has much more interest than the final activity result. However, it requires collaboration between 3 pupils to divide up the information and pictures research of different animals, and also to share the final result with fellow group.

The importance of this activity lies in the fact that it works on important knowledge for the primary school, and more particularly, for the 2nd grade of primary. It enables new learnings in English at an appropriate level for the children to whom we have led the bloc, and also gives the possibility to use ICT resources to do a well done and creative job. In addition, the page is visually attractive to young children, and easy to understand, because the explanations of the process are written in the L1.

Portals educatius: EDU365

L’edu365 és un portal educatiu del Departament d’Ensenyament amb infinitat de recursos per a totes les edats des d’infantil fins a batxillerat.


Pot ser usuari registrat del portal, tot alumne/a inscrit en un centre d'educació reglada, públic o privat, que ompli i trameti un formulari de sol·licitud d'alta, signat pels seus pares o tutors legals si és menor d'edat, comprometent-se a seguir les condicions expressades en aquest document, i al qual no se li hagi denegat el servei per incompliment de les normes. I també pot ser usuari registrat qualsevol associació de mares i pares d'alumnes (AMPA).

La prestació del servei del portal als alumnes dura mentre aquests estiguin matriculats en un centre d'ensenyament no universitari de Catalunya. El Departament, però, està autoritzat a suspendre la prestació del servei del portal en qualsevol moment si es detecta un mal ús. De la mateixa manera, aquest departament avisarà de la suspensió dels serveis i del portal a tots els usuaris.

Pel que fa als serveis, a través del portal, el Departament facilita als usuaris l'accés i la utilització de diversos serveis i continguts posats a disposició dels usuaris pel mateix Departament o per tercers usuaris del portal i/o tercers proveïdors de serveis i continguts. Tom & Laia's Tales

Tom and Laia's Tales is an educational webpage offered by edu365.cat to teachers and students of English. These are simple and interactive stories, which require the participation and interest of students to develop their audiovisual skills.The stories and the interactive activities have very different themes, which allow learning the language records of a very diverse, as well as teaching important values to society. Each story gives the opportunity to go back to and re-read and listen to the parts which have been less clear thanks to the arrows that appear at the bottom of the page. These are very helpful when doing the final activities proposed by each story. Apart from the written text, it also provides the opportunity to listen the story with a click on the speaker that appears at the left bottom of the screen.
The functionality of story is supplemented by some very colourful animations, which help the understanding of history with a simple click on them. In addition, this program offers the opportunity to practice the foreign language among students, as it makes easier the interaction between them to discuss the follow-up that may have the story. The teachers have the opportunity to change the activities according to the needs of their students. These exercises are very interactive and allow playing with the vocabulary and practicing reading in English.
Thus, Tom and Laia's Tales program is dynamic and entertaining for a wide selection of primary pupils who have different needs regarding the foreign language.

Aquesta activitat està dissenyada per al cicle mitjà de primària, més concretament, per al tercer curs, ja que el nivell de dificultat de les tasques requerides no és gaire elevat. D’aquesta manera, tots els infants, sempre amb l’ajuda del/la mestre/a, podran desenvolupar l’activitat i adquirir aprenentatges nous i molt valuosos de la llengua estrangera.

Competències
:

Com que amb el nou currículum es treballarà per competències, en l’activitat que nosaltres hem desenvolupat es treballaran principalment les següents competències pròpies de la llengua:
- Competència comunicativa: és una de les més importants, que engloba les competències oral, escrita i audiovisual. En la nostra activitat, els infants treballaran la competència oral mitjançant la lectura i representació de la història creada. La competència escrita es treballarà mitjançant l’elaboració del conte, primer en català, i després en llengua estrangera amb la seva corresponent revisió per part del/la mestre/a. Quan a la competència audiovisual, en aquesta activitat es desenvolupa a través de l’observació i l’atenció de les representacions de cada grup.
- Competència plurilingüe i intercultural: aquesta competència es treballa en la nostra activitat amb l’ús de la llengua estrangera per elaborar el conte i després llegir-lo, tot representant el seu paper, davant del grup classe. D’aquesta manera s’aprenen nous conceptes i metodologies de treball en una llengua nova, que actualment és la més internacional.
- Tractament de la informació i cometència digital: Aquesta competència es correspon amb l’àmbit de les TIC, que en aquesta activitat tenen un paper protagonista. Els infants hauran d’elaborar els recursos i materials necessaris per el seu conte mitjançant el programa Kid Pix, però també amb l’ús de traductors i processadors de textos.

Objectius:

- Millorar la comunicació interpersonal entre alumne i professor i alumne i alumne.
- Incrementar el coneixement sobre les noves tecnologies de l’alumnat.
- Desenvolupar la creativitat artística mitjançant l’ús de noves tecnologies.
- Crear una història a partir de directrius inicials del mestre.
- Aprendre a treballar de manera més autònoma.
- Incentivar la iniciativa personal per prendre decisions de manera autònoma.
- Comprendre missatges senzills en llengua estrangera.
- Construir textos breus i comprensibles en llengua estrangera.
- Aprendre a entonar la veu segons diferents personatges

Àrea curricular:

L’activitat ha estat creada per ser desenvolupada en l’àrea de llengua estrangera, però amb el reforç dels recursos TIC. Per tant, els/les mestres encarregats haurien de dominar un mínim d’ambdues àrees, o si no, comptar amb el suport d’algun expert.

Activitat:

Mitjançant el Kid Pix, els infants que duran a terme aquesta activitat hauran de crear una història fantàstica a partir d’una pantalla i uns personatges que ja els venen donats.
L’activitat consisteix en tres pantalles amb una imatge de fons donada, la de la primera pantalla, i amb diferents personatges entre els quals els infants hauran de fer una tria per elaborar un conte. El fons, o sigui, l’entorn de les següents pantalles, és lliure, per tant les històries poden seguir qualsevol rumb. Així doncs, cada conte serà diferent tot i tenir un inici semblant.
La història ha de tenir un inici clàssic, del tipus Hi havia una vegada..., i continuar amb el desenvolupament i el seu corresponent desenllaç.
Els contes s’han d’elaborar en llengua estrangera, i per tant caldrà utilitzar diversos recursos disponibles a la xarxa, com per exemple traductors de textos, etc.
Així mateix, s’haurà d’utilitzar un processador de textos per escriure el conte en català, i també enviar la història ja traduïda amb el traductor, per via mail al/la mestre/a encarregat/da.
Seqüenciació:
El conte primer s’ha d’escriure en la llengua materna en un processador de textos com per exemple el Word.
S’haurà d’utilitzar un traductor de textos, més concretament el Google Traductor, per poder tenir el text en llengua estrangera.
El text traduït, amb el nom i cognoms dels autors, s’haurà d’enviar al correu electrònic de/la mestre/a de llengua estrangera o del/la que s’encarregui de l’activitat, perquè faci les correccions adients.
Un cop els alumnes tenen el text corregit, hauran d’enganxar els diàlegs per els personatges en el programa Kid Pix, i comprovar la seva seqüenciació.
Crear la pantalla del desenvolupament de la història, tenint en compte el conte redactat.
Elaborar una pantalla de final sorprenent que segueixi el fil de la història treballada.
Guardar les pantalles en el format Movie per crear una pel·lícula, que finalment es passarà en la classe.

Clip educatiu: "Les mil i una nits"

Our video is about a storie we have taken form the"1001 Nights". In the intruduction, there is a girl who is reading this book, and then, she suddenly fells asleep. In her dream, she is princess Sheherezade, and she has to tell a storie to king Shariar, because he will kill her if not.

The storie is about a fisherman who is fishing, and finds a bottle from whitch comes out a genie. But the fisherman is much more intel·ligent than this genie, so he makes him get into the bottle again, and he throws it into the sea. The bottle is caught by a fish, and the storie ends because Sheherezade tells the king that the time is over. In that precise moment, the girl, who had fallen asleep in the introduction, wakes up, and watches around surprised.

With this clip, we wanted to introduct different stories, with different characters, because this way, children will be able to make the difference between all of kindsituations.

Three little pigs



This video is based on the story of the three little pigs, which is known worldwide because it has been translated into many languages. However,this video feature is not a reflection of the traditional children's story, because the end is not traditionally expected.
This difference makes it fun for children, despite they having heard the story, they are surprised,since they are not going to see what they expect. Furtheremore,this video also contains only images and music, but the characters have no voice. Therefore, students can use the imagination to deduce what each character would say.


Activity proposed for this video:

  • putting voice to the characters: children can write short sentences in English about what is happening at every moment. This activity stimulates creativity and interest. In addition, we work in English writing and pronunciation when the pupils give voice to the characters

Thus, we can work different aspects of English from a video on a traditional history, that children can enjoy using new technologies!

The Princess and the pea

Stories can be very helpful for children to learn anything. It catches their attention and at the same time they are learning, they are also having fun. We don't have to forget that it also helps to develop their imagination.
In this storie "The Princess and the Pea" the triplets want to help princess Goldie to pass a test, even going through the bored witch cheats. The king wants to marrie his son, the prince, with an authentic princess. To know if the candidates are properly princess, the king makes them a test. He hides a pea underneath a amount of mattresses to see if the candidates can detect it. The triplets trie to help Goldie, who is a properly princess and is in love with the prince, to pass the test.

(Els contes poden ser molt útils pels nens per tal d'aprendre qualsevol cosa. Capten la seva atenció i mentre aprenen, també es diverteixen. No hem de passar per alt que també ajuden a desenvolupar la seva imaginació.
Al conte "The Princess and the Pea" les tres bessones volen ajudar la princesa Goldie a superar una prova, tot i les trampes que fa la bruixa avorrida. El rei vol casar el seu fill, el príncep, amb una autèntica princesa. Per saber si les candidates són princeses de veritat, el rei les sotmet a una prova. Amaga un pèsol sota una pila de matalassos perquè les noies el detectin. Les tres bessones intenten ajudar la Goldie, que és una princesa de debò i està enamorada del príncep, perquè superi la prova.

The legend of Saint George



As Tünde has said, the stories are used in the school because they are didactic very efficient resources to study the language and the education at values.

This video is The legend of Saint Gorge, known by all the Catalan children, because it forms part of Catalunya's literary culture. Also we can find this story (explained in a video, in this case) in the following web page:

This legend appears in the 9th century and it is said that it is the probable origin of all the fairy-tales on princesses and dragoons in West.

It is a simple story, which is explained in a very schematic way, with very clear drawings, subtitles of the story and a good intonation of voice. The subtitles and the good intonation of voice do that the pupils understand better the story.

Therefore, we can say that this traditional story explained in English helps to the children obtain more vocabulary taking advantage that the majority of they already know it



[Com ha dit la Tünde, els contes són utilitzats a l’escola perquè són recursos didàctics molt eficients per treballar el llenguatge i l’educació en valors.

Aquest video és La llegenda de Sant Jordi, coneguda per tots els infants catalans perquè forma part de la cultura literària de Catalunya. També podem trobar aquest conte (explicant en un video) a la següent pàgina web:

Aquesta llegenda apareix en el segle IX i es diu que és el probable origen de tots els contes de fades sobre princeses i dragons en Occident.

És un conte senzill, que està explicat d’una manera molt esquemàtica, amb dibuixos molt clars, subtítols de la narració i una bona entonació de veu. Els subtítols i la bona entonació de veu fan que els alumnes entenguin millor el conte.

Per tant, podem dir que aquest conte tradicional explicat en anglès ajuda a que els nens aconsegueixin més vocabulari aprofitant que la majoria d’ells ja el coneixen.]

The little red hen

The stories are very useful educational resources to work on language and education in values in the primary school. Through short and illustrated stories teachers can promote the children's imagination and provide them learnings that otherwise would be very difficult to achieve.

The little red hen (La gallineta vermella) is one of the most popular stories of children's literature. It gives a very clear message and transmites values that we consider important for the age and level with which we have decided to work on: if we want to get a reward, we have to work for it not to wait until somebody does our job.

This video combines a paused reading of the story with correct intonation and modulation of the voice for each character. In addition, the vocabulary used is quite simple and therefore understandable to children in the second level of primary school. Each scene is ilustrated with a drawing that makes easier the general understanding of the story.

That is why this video is highly recommended as an educational resource, especially if you watch it in English, because this way it extends its educational possibilities.

[Els contes són recursos didàctics molt útils per treballar el llenguatge i també l'educació en valors a la primària. Mitjançant historietes curtes i il·lustrades es fomenta la imaginació dels /les infants i se'ls faciliten aprenentatges que d'altra manera serien molt difícils d'aconseguir.

The little red hen (La gallineta vermella) és un dels contes més populars de la literatura infantil. Transmet un missatge molt clar, i uns valors importants per a l'edat i el cicle que hem decidit treballar: per poder obtenir una recompensa s'ha de treballar, no esperar que ens ho donguin tot fet.

Aquest vídeo en concret combina una lectura molt pausada del conte, amb una entonació correcte i una modulació de la veu diferent per a cada personatge. A més, el vocabulari utilitzat és bastant senzill, i per tant, comprensible per a infants del cicle mitjà de primària. Cada escena és acompanyada per un dibuix animat que també facilita la comprensió general del conte.
